The Avondale Do Right! Campaign invites the community to its annual Health Fair on Saturday, Aug. 14. The day begins with the Avondale Fun & Fitness Walks: a 5K walk and a 1 mile mother’s walk. Registration will take place at MLK Park, corner of Reading and Burton, beginning at 8 a.m. The theme of this years walk is “When Communities Walk Together they Talk Together”, all neighborhoods bordering Avondale have been challenged to come out and join the walk. The 5k begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 1 mile mother’s walk begins at 9:30 a.m.

Immediately following the walks is the Avondale Health Fair at the Hirsch Recreation Center, 3630 Reading Rd. There will be a variety of health screenings including: breast cancer, prostate cancer, blood pressure, bone density, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and body mass index (BMI). Call281-4414.
