United Way sets goal of $62 million, 20,000 new donors

United Way of Greater Cincinnati has set a 2010 campaign goal of $62,025,000 and 20,000 new donors.

Campaign chair Dave Dougherty and his Campaign Cabinet are working hard to lead a successful campaign despite ongoing economic challenges.

“Some of our community’s largest companies continue to experience downsizing, and many significant donors are either retiring or relocating. (The year) 2010 will remain a very challenging year for the United Way campaign,” Dougherty said. “Right now we’re looking at a campaign gap of $1.5 million. We’ve identified a number of strategies to help close the gap, but what we really need is all hands on deck. Whether you give $10,000 or a dollar a week, you can make an impact this year.”

“This year’s campaign effort is essential to maintaining critical programs tied to education, income and health efforts in Greater Cincinnati,” says Rob Reifsnyder, United Way president and CEO. “United Way invests the community’s contributions in programs that help prepare children for kindergarten and youth for graduation from high school, support families seeking financial stability and individuals live healthy lives with maximum independence. We are grateful to local businesses and employees for stretching to support our work in advancing the common good.”
