I need your help!
By Ozie Davis III MS JD, Sports Editor
Hey folks, I took a couple weeks off the pen while the Western Southern Life Open was in town hoping that you could see the nice photos that our man Mike Mitchell was shooting. Good job, Mike. Now, I’m back and I must admit, the Herald Sports coverage is growing and getting better. My man at the Bengals and Reds games is Conrad Clowers. Conrad is a long time Herald Contributor and well known among Bengals and Reds fans. If you have questions, comments, or concerns about the Bengals or Reds, please send them my way at Ozie3@OzieDavis.com.

I’m in conversation with one of Cincinnati’s finest young journalists about helping us cover the UC Bearcats Football team. UC football has absolutely blown up over the last couple of years and while we’ll still be providing game coverage, I want to delve deeper into what is becoming Bearcat mania and now that high school football has begun, the opportunity to do that demands some assistance.

As for high school football, don’t THINK for one minute that we won’t be all on top of the City league, Winton Woods, and other African American football programs. I know my nephew Chris Davis is doing his thing at Colerain this year (I’ll be at the Elder game Friday.) I know Big Diesel (Adolphus Washington) is a pro down there on Ezzard Charles and I’ll be on that sideline plenty this year as well. And don’t forget my blood nephew Antonio Davis is still associate head coach at Withrow and I never miss a season without walking those sidelines. There’s a new head coach at Woodward, more promise than ever out of Aiken, Hughes, Shroder, and West High. I’m definitely looking forward to the high school football season.

Now, one thing I’d really like to do and I’ve said this before is really give the Pee- Wee scene more attention. I mean, Hilltop beat the Avondale Eagles 20-6 at 10/11year old last Saturday, and I only know because my son was on the field for the Eagles. If y'all would help me by providing information about your Pee-Wee teams, I will put it out here. Please send info to Ozie3@Ozie- Davis.com. I’m sure my other blood nephew Aaron Davis, who is the Head Coach for the West End Wildcats 7/8 (I think) year old team, will take heed and make sure the Wildcats are represented. How about you Mingo? What’s up with the Evanston Bulldogs? No more Super bowl trips without the Herald knowing about it please!!! And Sam, are you still in action?

Hey, I’m naked here, begging for the info, so I can share it with the world. What I'm saying is is that YOU ARE IMPORTANT to us and we want to share the story. That’s Pee- Wee, high school, college. Whatever sports information you got, please get it out to me. I was talking to Chris Nelms at the Black Family Reunion and he was saying there’s a CPS Alumni Softball contest coming up. Chris, get me that information, so I can get it out!!!

Next week- An update on the City’s best high school basketball player Aaron Thomas. He’s headed to Nebraska for his first visit this weekend, so we’ll see how that went and I’ll share the story of how he ended up at Withrow. We’ll talk about how the Bearcats do against Fresno State, and of course there wll be more Reds and Bengals coverage. Can you believe the Reds are six games up headed into September- wow! Again, if you got something for me, shoot me an e-mail at Ozie3@OzieDavis.com. Much love! Thanks for visiting Ozie’s world. Until next
