African Americans must never forget their history, and they must not be ashamed to share that history with others, said Rev. S. K. Wheeler, pastor of Impact Christian Ministries.

Wheeler and Brooke Edman, community relations manager from the Barnes and Noble Bookstore in Sycamore Crossing have teamed up to do exactly that.

On Saturday, Feb. 18, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore at 7800 Montgomery Road, the public is invited to a free event where learning African American history will be fun. Prizes will be awarded for answering the questions, and someone will be named The Black History Champion of 2012.

At this event, you will hear the sounds of the music that brought Black people through some very rough times. You will also meet living legends who have impacted the world in the past and are currently doing so.

So that all individuals may have an equal opportunity at winning the prizes, the following questions are available for you to research. Bring the entire family out for an evening of fun while learning about Black history.
