Exhibit features Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church

Glendale Heritage Preservation announces the opening of an exhibit titled “Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church: Past, Present and Future,’’ on Saturday Feb. 4, and running through May 17.

The exhibit explores the history of Mt. Zion from 1876 to the present day. Come discover the story of the Mt. Zion Heritagequilts, the Mt. Zion cake, the mortgage burning ceremony, and many other fascinating stories.

Items in the exhibit include: • Photographs of the church buildings and its congregations throughout Mt. Zion's long history • Proclamations awarded to Mt. Zion in recognition of their recent 135th Anniversary • A tablecloth designed and stitched by the Mt. Zion Sewing Club around 1979 • A Mt. Zion Bible from 1832 • A “Strong's Concordance” from the 1800s • A paper weight designed to commemorate 135th anniversary. • A program from the mortgage burning ceremony • A set of communion glasses that were used in the old church • A book recording baptisms (from 1926)
