2012 FOUNDATIONS IN PREVENTION

PRESENTED BY ALISON SHARER, OCPS II SPONSORED BY THE HAMILTON COUNTY SPF-SIG ADVISORY COUNCIL

 PURPOSE:  To provide foundational knowledge in substance abuse prevention through formal education and networking opportunities with colleagues. The course provides approximately 48 education hours in 2 prevention foundations and 5 prevention domains. The course includes a 6 hour Prevention Ethics class.

 

WHO:             The course is open to prevention professionals or community volunteers

in Hamilton County who want to obtain the most current alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention education and/or prepare for the Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist credential.

 

WHEN:          First class is February 17, 2012 and continues monthly for ten months

                        Class meets 3rd Friday of each month from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

FEE:                NO COST. Participants will receive:

Ø  Substance Abuse Prevention, the Intersection of Science and Practice, Hogan, 2002

Ø  Course materials

Ø  Continuing education – Approval is pending for prevention continuing education (registered clock hours = RCH's).

Ø  Lunch

Ø  Networking opportunities
