Enrollment for free tutoring is now open at local YMCA branches for Cincinnati Public School students.

This is a very special midyear enrollment. Space is very limited. If you signed up in the fall, but were not accepted by CPS, this is your second chance. There is a small window of opportu nity to enroll your student. Registration continues until Feb. 10.

Your Cincinnati Public school has the enrollment form you need. Simply visit your student’s main office, ask for an “SES application form,” and you can fill it out there and leave it at the office. Don’t forget to put the YMCA as your number one choice!

YMCA Tutoring works with families to provide quality personalized education for youth. When we meet with youth after school or on the weekend, youth get fit in mind and body with GeoFitness Multiplication.

By getting up and moving around while learning, youth want to come to their tutor time. Our lessons include practicing estimation skills with bubbles and creating frequency tables. We meet families where they need us, including tutors meeting with students at apartment community centers.

Tutoring techniques we use are both fun and educational. Young mathematicians build flat and solid shapes while expanding their knowledge of geometry. Students cooperate in small groups to write articles for a school news paper during. Together they show pride in their school community, so that project learning enrich youth’s lives. Youth practice counting money and developing life skills while working in small groups by participating in the “Race for a Dollar” lesson.
