Career day at Withrow High School
Jennifer Murtland (second from right) with students Cultivating careers is an annual activity at Withrow University High School, empowering students to graduate in four years and successfully pursue college, the armed forces or employment training to become productive citizens of a global society. Principal Sharon Johnson is committed to this idea by supporting an annual event that creates interaction between students and area professionals.
Through the coordination of the College Office, coordinators Lakisha Porter and Priscilla Ungers manage The Spring College and Career Fair. The purpose of the Fair is to allow students and families to learn about local and regional colleges and meet professionals from various fields.
One participant in this year’s event was Jennifer Murtland, Lead Real Estate Agent from Team Synergi of Keller Williams Realty, the second-largest national real estate company in the United States, with 77,672 associates.
Students related to Murtland, a young professional who has been successful in helping people sell their homes in a difficult economy. Team Synergi’s company motto is “Your dream, Our Team,” a mission that attracted students to Murtland’s display at the fair. Murtland specializes in short sales, helping homeowners avoid foreclosure and sell their home through a short sale. She has also sold high end properties mostly on the east side of town.
“I’m always available to share and teach others aboutfinancial management and the real estate business, something that I do at Crossroads, my church home and throughout the community,” says Murtland, whose team includes office administrator E. Selean Holmes.
Withrow students have received national recognition for their academic achievements, touting the highest ratings on the Ohio standardized tests three times since 2004. Additionally, the school has graduated 100 percent of its seniors.
Perhaps their interaction with young professionals like Jennifer Murtland will produce future real estate professionals in the Cincinnati area and beyond.
