P&G receives high national United Way honors

United Way Worldwide has presented its prestigious Spirit of America Award for corporate citizenship to The Procter & Gamble Company. P&G is the largest corporate contributor to United Way of Greater Cincinnati. Through its philanthropic and volunteer efforts, P&G taps into its brand power to improve children's lives around the world.
Accepting the award for P&G are Chris Hassall, global external relations officer, at left, from Brian Gallagher, president, United Way Worldwide. When presenting the award, United Way Worldwide president Brian Gallagher said, "The company is a global leader in corporate citizenship and a great United Way partner. P&G and its employees have demonstrated incredible leadership, innovation and volunteer commitment which are improving children’s lives and making a lasting impact in communities here in the U.S. and around the world.”
"P&G has been a bedrock of philanthropic support for both our United Way and the Greater Cincinnati community," said Rob Reifsnyder, president, United Way of Greater Cincinnati. "Volunteers from throughout the company are deeply involved in all aspects of our work. P&G has previously won five Summit Awards from United Way Worldwide, three in 2010 and two in 2011 for its work in community impact and volunteer engagement.
"The company contributed $12.5 million in corporate, employee and retiree gifts to our 2011 campaign and is among the first of our local companies to endorse the Bold Goals for Our Region."
